Is higher SPF always better?Updated a year ago
While higher SPF provides more protection, the increase in protection is marginal beyond a certain point. For example, SPF 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays, while SPF 50 blocks about 98%. The key to effective sun protection is not just the SPF number but also applying enough sunscreen and reapplying it regularly. High SPF products can sometimes give a false sense of security, leading to longer sun exposure without reapplication, which can still result in skin damage.
