What is the difference between UVA and UVB protection?Updated a year ago

UVA and UVB rays are both harmful, but they affect the skin in different ways:

  • UVA rays: Penetrate deep into the skin and are primarily responsible for premature ageing and long-term skin damage. They can penetrate glass and clouds, making them a constant threat. UVA rays contribute to the breakdown of collagen and elastin, leading to wrinkles and sagging skin.

  • UVB rays: Affect the skin's surface and are the primary cause of sunburn. UVB rays are more intense during the middle of the day and vary with the season and location. They are responsible for immediate damage like redness and burning, and over time, they can contribute to skin cancer.

Broad-spectrum SPF provides protection against both types of rays, ensuring comprehensive skin protection.
